A customer in the packaging industry contacted us for a component that would make up the filling/dispensing unit of a bulk packaging container. Using our 230-ton injection molding machine, we made this single-threaded fitment from LLDPE, a polyethylene that has high tensile strength and chemical resistance. The piece weighed 38.4 g. The customer required a < 0.160” flange curl, and we were able to satisfy that requirement easily. In addition to dimensionally inspecting the product, we checked for underfill, flash, specks, discoloration, and contamination. We manufacture 300,000 fitments annually for this client.
